Congratulation, you are expecting a baby!!!
?
Exciting times ahead.
?
If you are like many expecting parent, you may have heard yoga is good for you. That is so true!! I am a mother of three and did yoga while pregnant with all three is it helped with my pregnancy, labour, delivery and after baby arrived. In fact, it helped me so much, I took the yoga teacher training and have now been teaching for 8 years.
?
Last night while I was sharing my passion for yoga with a group of expecting parents, I was ?asked ?a really great question — what should I ?look for in a pre-natal yoga instructor?
?
Here are the 8 questions you need to ask when you are trying to find the perfect Pre-Natal Yoga Instructor:
?
i. How many hours of yoga training have you completed?
I recommend seek a Pre-Natal Yoga Instructors who has successfully completed the basic 200 hours of instruction by an accredited yoga instructor and accredited yoga studio, plus additional specialized training in Pre-Natal Yoga
?
ii. Who did you receive Pre-Natal Yoga Training by? How many hours of training?
I recommend at least an additional 16 hour of specialized training for Pre-Natal Yoga
?
iii. Are you a registered Yoga Teacher
I recommend a pre-natal yoga instructor to be registered with either Yoga Network of Canada or Yoga Alliance
Ask for confirmation, they should have a registration card and number
?
iv. Have you done yoga while pregnant?
When I was pregnant, I found the instructors who did yoga while pregnant really understood me better.
?
v. How many pre-natal classes have you taught ?
I recommend, you go with your gut feeling on this.
?
vi. Do you have valid ?Insurance for your yoga business?
I feel this is critical since if a instructor takes teaching yoga seriously, they will have yoga insurance for their buisness. Ask for proof. Ensure it is valid.
?
vii. Do you have experience with the following ?.(list your symptoms and/or concerns)
Share with the instructor any of you pregnancy symptoms (i.e. back pain, cramping, tight hips, nausea, pelvic floor pain, etc), health concerns, any other concerns.
?
viii. Do you teach Partner Pre-Natal Yoga?
If you are seeking partner Pre-natal ?Yoga class ensure your instructor has the training and experience.
